Awards Season: Best Dressed

By: Hillary Levine

The beginning of a new year brings one of my favorite seasons… awards season.  While I enjoy watching the awards and performances, we all know that most of us, at least the women, watch for the fashion. So I think it is only fitting to give you my top picks for best dress for the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and the Grammy’s.

Kerry Washington

What can I say about her? First of all, not many women can pull off wearing white, never mind wearing white and expecting! This dress accentuated the baby bump in a flattering way. Her simplistic approach to accessorizing made the overall look simple chic.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Wihterspoon

I have always admired Reese Witherspoon’s style. She knows what works for her and her body. First things first: I loved this color on her, and the sleek, form-fitting style of the dress showed off her curves. I also loved the short bob on her. My only criticism was her lack of glitzy jewelry, which could have added some glam to a simple dress. Overall, I really loved this look.

Maria Menuonos

Maria Menuonos

Pink is obviously Maria Menuonos color, and this shade of pink looked beautiful with her complexion. This dress definitely deserved to be on my favorites list. The sheer, cutout details helped accentuate her curves, which you normally don’t see.

Kelly Osbourne

I have never seen her look so flawless and fierce from the slit to her knee in the dress to her slicked back hair! She was on point with her seemingly simple black dress with shoulder details.

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey, SAG Awards

Oprah could do no wrong in this dress.  Oprah is turning 60, but that couldn’t stop her from showing off her smaller waistline while hitting us with some sexy curves. Very classy, Oprah, very classy.

Sophia Vergara

Sophia Vegara

Sophia Vergara was flawless and sparkling in this beautiful dress. I loved that she took a bit of a risk and moved away from her usual fit-and-flare style dress. This slinky number hit her in all the right places. It didn’t hurt that Sophia clearly knows how to work the camera to get her best angle.

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong'o, SAG Awards

Lupita Nyong’o looked simply couture. From her gorgeous red-caped dress at the Golden Globes to this stunning blue number, Lupita knows how to show off her flawless skin and to rock a vibrant-colored dress that leaves others in the dust.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry

Katy is embodying the Grammy’s… no, really those are musical notes on her dress! What is better than watching the Grammy’s? Having a dress that has musical notes on it to wear to the Grammy’s. Katy looks stunning in this gown. Not only did she look good, she also killed it during her Grammy performance.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande looked classic Hollywood in this dress. Let’s be honest: prints are not for everyone, but Ariana kept her accessories simple and made this floral number look glamorous.

Colbie Caillet

Sheer is all the rage this season, and Colbie Caillat looked brilliant in this red dress. The simple, sexy but not-too-sexy, sheer cutout accented by the beautiful detailing around the bodice made this a “classy” sheer dress. Colbie had it all together from her nails to her simple hair and jewelry.
