Nikki’s Kitchen: Honeycrisp Honey Crisp

As we approach Rosh Hashanah, we start thinking of everything we can do with apples and honey. I actually had a hard time thinking of something that hasn’t been done a million times, but who doesn’t like Apple Crisp? So I hope you enjoy this recipe. I think it is delicious. 🙂

Honeycrisp Honey CrispApple Crisp Cropped

8 Honeycrisp apples, peeled (You can use whatever variety you like – I just think Honeycrisp fits the occasion)
1/4 cup honey
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup cold butter/margarine

Heat oven to 375°F. Cut fruit into chunks (removing pit or seeds),
and layer in a 13”x9” glass pan.

Mix dry ingredients in a medium sized bowl, DSC_0315
and then cut in butter with a pastry cutter. (Cut until crumbly.)

Bake for 35-45 minutes. Top should be browned.
If desired, serve with ice cream or a nondairy whipped topping. Delicious with or without topping. Enjoy!
