Although Journey’s “small town girl” took a “midnight train going anywhere,” Shayna did not take public transportation until she was 17 in Guatemala, unless you count the suburban school bus. She grew up in Spring Valley, a small village north of Manhattan, and before college, traveled to Latin America engaging in various volunteer projects on a gap year. Despite calling the East Coast home for now, her adventurous spirit and commitment to action always keeps her on the go around the world. She is currently a student at Brown University studying performace studies and geography. She spends her time singing as a pirate in the country’s only pirate a capella group called ARR!!!!, cooking up creative vegan dishes, brewing probiotics like Kombucha, teaching vinyasa yoga, and tutoring in foreign languages.
